Hello all, I live in Tucson Arizona and I am a student at
Ashford University. This blog is part of a class project. I am actually four
classes away from finishing my Bachelors in Business Information Systems, which
is very exciting. When I started my coursework here at Ashford, there wasn’t a
pure technical IT program (which I believe there is now) and Information
Systems was the closest thing to my interests.
I work as a Reporting Analyst
within an Accounts Receivable organization and I am still considering whether
to pursue a more technical career path or continue as a systems analyst. I’m
hoping that this course will help with this decision; although I do enjoy
coding my work straddles the line between business and technical, and being
able to bridge those two worlds is pretty valuable as most people are mainly
fluent in one. I have taken a few coding courses so I have some knowledge of
C++, Java, and Visual Basic, although the main language I use at work is VBA
with Microsoft Office (mostly Excel).
Tucson is an amazing place to live, if
you don’t mind a dry heat for half the year. People often ask, how can you deal
with the heat and I prefer it over humidity, but it’s like opening your oven
door and standing in front of it during the summer! There is lots of wilderness
to hike, and I am active in several spiritual communities here, so regular
activities include meditation practice, breathwork, shamanic drumming, sensory
deprivation floating, and sweat lodges. I also enjoy golf and working on music
in my home studio.
